In The Lap of the Gods
I was rather hoping they would play this song, given how high up in the O2 we were. I got altitude sickness just getting to my seat!
An excellent concert though, and well worth the two year wait due to covid. After all the trials and tribulations with trains yesterday, we chose to travel to Greenwich by River Boat. It actually worked out quicker than going by tube and we had a very pleasant boat ride in the sunshine! Pleasantly surprised to find the boats were still running after the show, so we went back to Woolwich the same way. The hotel was only a few minutes walk from the pier so I’d definitely consider staying there again.
Lots of Queen classics were played, and it was good to hear some of the earlier stuff getting an outing. No lack of energy from either Brian May or Roger Taylor, and Adam Lambert somehow pulls off the trick of singing like Freddie whilst still putting his own personal stamp on the songs.
I’m writing this on the train ride back up to Kendal and am pleased to say there were no seat issues, and we are running to time - definitely back home in time for tea!
And only a week to wait before we’re heading back down to London Town to see the Beach Boys. Now there’s a group of lads who make Queen look like positive whippersnappers!
