The accidental finding

Dredgers at work

A hot, hot day. I walked down to town about 10 am, pooped into the office, then visited my old nursery, next door to the surgery.

Children were playing outside, the paddling pool was out, it was lovely for a few minutes, until the screaming and other things began. At any rate, though I enjoyed playing for a while, I know I made the right call when I changed career, summer or no summer.

I left when lunch began, and walked to Tesco's for ice cream, then along a shaded riverside path to the main road, which I crossed to access the canal. I'd intended to walk further, but after  I'd got to LIDL and did some shopping, I realised I was not acclimatised to the heat. I walked all the way back to Bowbridge along the canal, stopping at the Lock Keepers cafe for iced coffee and carrot cake. I What'sApped a colleague in the office and she asked me what the weather was like outside, so I sent her some snaps of blue skies and bright sunlight. She said she'd rather see photos of garbage, because of the good weather she was missing,  so I sent her some garbage snaps as well. (Just to be clear, the view from our office is of four walls, with windows along just one wall, six inches from the ceiling. Think of an old fashioned public lavatory in the UK, and you're there, minus the stalls and the stench)!

Walked up the hill to home, unpacked the shopping, changed into an African robe because it was cooler. Wasn't expecting any visitors.... sat down to watch a Zoom. Then some visitors arrived. I realised I've become averse to having people in the house, because of CoVid (it's still doing the rounds in Stroud) so I invited them in and they got to meet Indie the cat, and we chatted, and then they left, and there was another Zoom lecture, and CleanSteve came back, and we chatted... I think I'll watch  both the Zooms again tomorrow. I hardly took in a word of either of them.

Watched a film on Amazon called Starfish. It was basically about a man who contracts Sepsis, and how it affects him and his family.  I thought I'd better watch it because there's a display in the surgery's waiting room about Sepsis. Sepsis is the new name for Septicaemia or 'blood poisoning'. It's a lot easier to spell than the old name, but still poorly understood and underdisgnosed. I feel better informed now.

13.5K steps today. The dredging workers were snapped on the canal by the Lock Keepers just above Wallbridge Upper Lock in Stroud.
