Amandine's Plot Treize

Greenhouse tomatoes

The recent heatwave has really sped up the growth of the 8 tomato and cucumber plants I'm growing in the greenhouse.

I've starting training them up on jute strings and I'm keeping on top of side shoots to stop the plants wasting energy on foliage production. This plant (my heritage French cultivar called 'Tomate Mangue') is looking pretty healthy and flowering.

It's always interesting comparing outdoor tomatoes with greenhouse ones. In previous years, outdoor tomato plants have tended to outperform greenhouse ones early in the season but things generally change quickly after the summer equinox.
