Poppies

Headed out early to avoid the worst of the heat, by 9.30am already 25 degrees, thankfully though a lovely breeze all day. Trudged to the high street on an errand for Mum, only to find a sign on Boots door saying, “Opening today at 2pm”. Grrr.... Turned round and trudged back home, passing the poppies. 30 degrees in the shade in the garden this afternoon, too hot for the olds, and me, and Toff!

My brother and SIL returned at lunchtime from Singapore/Mexico. While in Mexico, C’s Aunty, who was friends with Frida Kahlo, gifted her a necklace that used to belong to the famous Mexican artist, exciting! Sunday they head off to Italy for a grand wedding on Lake Como. When they return is uncertain, their return flight has just been cancelled! 

This evening my kind neighbour fitted a new car battery for me, and we had fish and chips with Pimms.
