Endless California (One Week Only), London
The last few day have really felt like Endless California. It now gets light here well before four o'clock in the morning and the deep blue sky is already front and centre. We are often awoken first by the caterwauling foxes and their cubs, that full screaming yowl is like nothing else. We saw one cub crouch and then it's whole body tensed and it let out it's unearthly scream as if it's call was going to be it's last breath. It certainly wasn't, as it repeated it for a good ten minutes with no less intensity. Then come the sparrows and their like followed by the raucous chorus of the pigeons.
It was already 20C before I even got on my train. Luckily, there was a breeze so even as it got hotter and hotter during the day it wasn't totally stiffling. Today's image was taken just outside the London Palladium and included a fair bit of serendipity. The man in his sunglasses at the edge of the frame was but just a blur as I pressed the shutter and I didn't realise until I reviewed the image that the woman with the wild hair was carrying a bag with California stamped on it! This hot and humid weather may only last a week, if that, so I thought it was apt to include it in the title.
