Pies

It's been an amazing day, full of music, friends and family :-)

The Samba Sisters played at our first Gala since 2019 at Kiirkconnel and Kelloholm, which is always one of our favourites. The best part of two hours playing on the back of a lorry to really appreciative cross and then being treated to first class hospitality with sandwiches, pies and cakes, washed down with fizzy pop. Here is the lovely Hazel in her new tartan dungarees, enjoying a well- earned lunch.

The Sisters returned to Dumfries to play in the Guid Nychburris parade but I had visitors to ser - Luke and Laura and Otter had arrived :-) We took the dogs down for a quick qalk and swim before tea and then we were out again, with Sarah and Chris, to a concert at The Bridge. This was the Border & Strathspey Reel Society and the Gallovidians' Fundraiser for Ukrainian refugees in Dumfries. There were quite a few Ukrainian families at the concert and we finished with their National Anthem and then Auld Lang Syne. An emotional moment.

When I reached home, D was already in bed, but I remembered that I had a mile left to walk (I've challenged myself to walk 5 miles a day in June) so I have been out round the fields (still light enough to see past 11pm) and was rewarded by seeing a barn owl out hunting.

Now time for my blip and then I will fall gratefully into bed!
