Gnome

Today was Father’s Day and everyone was home.  JC didn’t see his own Dad as he was playing cricket (?) but OH had booked golf for 1.00.  All arrived and I made bacon sandwiches to sustain them.  No.1 and I stayed home and did some wedding research looking at flowers and ideas for table settings.  Flowers like everything else are so expensive so we wondered what we might be able to do ourselves?  We found a white table runner and dressed the table with some greenery from the garden and filled small pots with sweet peas.  We wondered what they would think?

We had a walk along the river and a guilty visit to MIL (I hadn’t invited her to. Lunch/dinner as it always changes the dynamics). (Photo taken of strange collection of gnomes and garden ornaments en route).   She was pleased to see No.1 and got her wedding album out of the cupboard to show us).  Less mobile all the time, and the place looked a bit of a mess despite having a weekly cleaner.

Home to prepare food and get BBQ ready but walking, chatting and flower stuff had taken too long and they were home before food was ready.  We sat in the conservatory chatting but ate eventually and it was well received.  Less so the table setting which was met by blank stares from JC who wasn’t impressed - No.1 cross as he can be a bit dismissive (like his Dad).  

We played Alexa over dinner and took turns to select music and ended up dancing around the kitchen.  Good fun and the day turned out well.
