Banksia

I wandered around the lovely campus of the University of Western Australia today, surely the most attractive campus of all Australian universities. Rana is here for professorial duties. I'm here to look at Banksias. I'm not sure what species this is, but I might know more after I visit Kings Park Botanic Garden tomorrow.

(Next day: I think it's Banksia ashbyi. Which seems to have no common name, other than Ashby's Banksia. It's named for Edwin Ashby, who collected the definitive specimen of this species.)
