Winter to Summer…

…in 12 hours - the wind dropped, the clouds cleared and it was 26 degrees in scorching sun. We fitted in three gardens today. Arbuthnott House has been in the same family for 700 years and is still a private family garden (of several acres) on a steep hillside. The most noticeable feature at the moment is the 200m long lupin border (main). Crathes Castle (first extra) NT of Scotland has a wonderful Arts & Crafts garden divided into “rooms” of different colours. Drum Castle walled garden has NT of S historic rose collection surrounded by herbaceous borders. All very inspiring!
