The Faces Say It All (Strike!), Aylesford
We are one of the places where there are going to be no trains at all on the strike days. Even though I can't get in on those days I've been told I have to take them as holiday (nice!) so I thought I might as well bloody go for it and take three days off. This means I don't have to go in until Friday and even on that day the train situation could be on the dicey side.
I can understand, to an extent, the union position and that they want to do the best for their workers but the cynical way they have picked strike days to cause the maximum disruption possible will not endear them to commuters. I had a well below inflation pay rise last year and am staring down the barrel of nothing this year with no chance of being able to strike, so my sympathy will not last if this is something that is going to push on into the autumn. Having said that the government (and Grant Shits especially) have deliberately fanned the flames and done absolutely nothing to try and prevent them in the first place. It's all bit exhausting and depressing.
