Celebrating World Immunisation Week

It is estimated that 80,000 babies are born disabled each year because their mothers contracted rubella during pregnancy. Countless more women miscarry before coming to term.

When our colleagues in Bhavnagar District, India heard that a mass village wedding of 27 couples was to take place, they set up an immunisaiton booth nearby.

Volunteers visited each wedding party, encouraging women to get immunised. By the end of the day 154 vaccinations had taken place. This beautiful bride passed by on the way to her wedding feast. A memorable day all round!
