A day of contrasts

This morning we were at Cawdor Castle (not a witch in sight) (main and first extra) which has the most superb gardens full of lush borders and contemporary sculptures. This is the home of the Campbell Clan.

This afternoon (second extra) we were at a private garden growing vegetables on biodynamic principles where the main concern was whether the bees liked a plant or not. The owner showed us around, explaining her recipes for fertiliser, and declaring “I love nettles!”. I think that the group I am with agreed that we all have to be more eco-conscious in our gardening, but she represented the extreme position that was a step too far for most. She has at least half a dozen gorgeous dogs (third extra).
