Cycling the Granite Way

Martin and I have brought our folding electric bikes with us on holiday and  are determined  to use them. This morning  we cycled into Okehampton to pick up  the  Granite Way Cycle Trail which goes to Lydford (about 11miles) along the route of an old railway track. It passes over the spectacular 19th century metal Meldon railway viaduct with views towards Dartmoor.
My extra shows where the trail passes the  14th century St Thomas a Beckett church at Sourton, together with a National Cycle Network (NCN) signpost.
It was a beautiful cycle ride with lovely scenery, no cars, few other people, gentle  gradients and a good road surface.
We met up with the rest  of our family group at Lydford Gorge tearoom; they  had driven there. I'm sure the river gorge is worth seeing but  the paths looked far too  treacherous for most of our party  to consider, so after coffee we made our separate ways back to our holiday house, where some of us enjoyed the delights of the outdoor hot tub.
We had home made fish pie followed by chocolate pots for dinner.
We phoned my sister C in Cornwall. She is still feeling very poorly with Covid,  but fortunately no worse.
