Walking on Dartmoor
We awoke to a glorious day. My sister A and husband P took our Mum and her sister to the Butterfly Farm and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary at Buckfastleigh. Meanwhile I drove into Okehampton for a few supplies. After lunch Martin and I drove to the Dartmoor Inn near Lydford to meet a former patient of mine and his wife (who live in nearby Tavistock) for a wonderful 5 mile circular walk on the moors to Brat Tor ( 452m)and Great Links Tor (586m). The main blip shows the ford on the river Lyd at the end of our walk. The extra is the view from Great Links Tor, looking westwards back towards Widgery Cross on Brat Tor, and beyond that, to Cornwall and Bodmin Moor. Widgery Cross was erected in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. (I am not sure if it was named after the local painter, Widgery.)
We returned to Knowle House to find the rest of our party already there, having had a good day, too. A made us mushroom risotto and Martin made a "Martin Mess" with meringue, cream and strawberries.
