DofE day 1

Backblipped yesterday.

I don't, by choice, often work with kids nowadays, but what a lovely bunch this lot are :-) Which is good as there's only me & a teacher looking after them (three teams) on their Gold whilst the same number of Silvers have two instructors and five teachers. Hmmm. Lol.

Wow did it put some rain down overnight, becks in spate, Bog everywhere. Some replanning required first thing as I just couldn't guarantee some tricky but unavoidable water crossings would go.
They set off in the wet. One group got dropped at totally the wrong start by an errant teacher... figured it out themselves, fixed it, laughed about it. Stars. Another group had some total kit failure, temporary fix and then a quick drive to stores before meeting them at the next checkpoint. Group three decided on a detour, made a plan, executed it, result.
They were rewarded by some glorious by the end of the day and it was lovely to hear laughter and tales at camp.

I felt kinda bad telling them the forecast for tomorrow. It'll be a character building kinda day...
