Nope, Not Broccoli

This is Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle' obviously not in full bloom yet. But aren't those buds cool looking? She'll grow in full sun as long as the soil remains moist. Not the greatest of plants in a garden that doesn't get rain all summer, but she's well irrigated. And managed nicely through this three-day heat wave.

Only 92F/33.3C today but the best news is that the temp is dropping to 54F/12.2C tonight with a very cool 74F/23.3C tomorrow. I'm thrilled! Especially since I'll be playing in an 18 hole tournament tomorrow which would be untenable in 99F. Well, I wouldn't play, obviously.

A lot of botanical garden meetings/calls/computer work today. Now that the party is over, all the work that I put off must be done. A good day to be inside doing it!
