Florida Monkeys

Kayaking today on the Silver River near Ocala, Florida.

Such an astoundingly beautiful place, crystal clear river with exotic birds, lovely flowers, fish, turtles, alligators and MONKEYS??!!

It seems the monkeys came from a misguided person's plan to enhance his "jungle tour boat ride exhibit" back in the 30's. These Macques have thrived here in the Silver Springs State Park since then.

I'm certain it is not a good idea from an ecological perspective, but what a hoot to watch them doing their monkey business as we passed by in our kayaks!
