Mourning Brooch

Sadly I didn't get any of the sewing boxes I wanted.  They went for massive prices, and I guess that vendor would have been ecstatic.  Way beyond my budget however.  In fact the whole auction was very highly priced, with many items going well over the reserve.

Except for this Mourning Brooch - 12 ct gold and really very beautiful, which went for under the reserve - not by very much, but making it a worthwhile purchase.  

So we have added it to our ever-expanding collection of cameos and mourning brooches.

Very Victorian.
