León
Our first full day in Spain but not yet on our own Way...
The flight from Stansted left us in Madrid close to midnight on the Friday, waiting for the 1am bus to León where we would pick up our credencials, the Pilgrim Passports that allow you to use the hostels on the Camino.
Of course, arriving at 6am made it a little tricky as most hostels in the city weren't kicking people out until 8am - still it gave us a chance to wander around the city that was sleeping and view the magnificent cathedral as the sun rose, meeting some early morning pilgrims and eventually picking up our credencials from the main albergue in the city.
After a quick breakfast at a cafe near the centre we found some taxis to take us to our hotel where I am unashamed to admit that I fell promptly asleep, having had a very busy week in the lead up to the holiday! The others explored León and then we had the first very hearty meal of the trip, perfect fuel for a good sleep before the next day's trip to Astorga and the start of our Way...
