Day 1: The Engle Field

To be honest, the logistics and variables of this trip to see the Dandies and then going on to Lisbon has being preying on my mind, so I've factored in contingency wherever I can.

... which meant that Abi and I were in Bentham a good half-hour before our train was due to leave, giving us time to walk up to the bakers to get coffees and a bacon roll for me and a custard tart for Abi.

The train was a few minutes late, but it manifested in due course and that was the main thing, giving us a pleasant journey across to Leeds, where we had quite a bit of time before the train to London, so we went for a walk around the city centre, grabbed some lunch, and then met Hannah in plenty of time for the train down to King's Cross.

And on arrival there, we decided to eschew the Underground and take the bus up to our hotel in Highbury, where we paused to freshen up before heading out to meet my brother, Wol, and have a drink. To be honest, we didn't get far: The Engle Field was just down the road and it had a nice little garden, away from the traffic.

Wol arrived in good time and we enjoyed a couple of drinks there before deciding it was time to eat and heading off to Sweet Thursday, where Dan met us. It was lovely sitting outside, in the warm evening air, watching the sun drop, whilst drinking eating and chatting. It was all wonderfully effortless and the time flew by. (Plus I was feeling relaxed as there are no travel plans tomorrow!)
