Saturday morning in our house…

Hubby: “Why are you throwing that away?”

Me: “It’s ‘best before April 2016’.”

Hubby: “Don’t throw it away, I’ll use that!”

Me: <chucks it in the bin when he’s not looking>


My new-found, carefree attitude to wasting food is obviously a result of our recent lottery win. I hadn’t bought a ticket in probably fifteen years but got one for my husband for Fathers’ Day as I couldn’t think of what else to get.

We’d forgotten all about it until today and guess what, we won… £4.20. Not exactly ‘set for life’, but it definitely covered the cost of a more-than-six-years-out-of-date tin of beans.
