Seal and the sheep whisperer
This morning we ignored the weather forecast of rain, which didn't match at all with the reality outside, and cycled to two beaches. Our first stop was Cliad Bay, and the second Bàghan Traillech. We shared the former - at a great distance - with another couple. The second was 'crowded' with seals. This young one was as interested in us as we were in him.
A distinction between our two holiday islands is that the beaches on Tiree are very easily accessed from the road, whereas those on Coll require a walk across the dunes and machair to reach them. Our walk to Bàghan Traillech today took us past a pen of orphaned lambs. They were very excited to see us, most likely in the hope that we were bringing food. They were super-friendly and queued up to be stroked. Mr hazelh was chief sheep whisperer - see the extra.
By the time we returned to 'town' to find some food, it was wall to wall blue sky and sunshine again, so after scone for lunch we walked to Caolas an Eilean, our third beach du jour. This is found just over a small hillock south of the pier. We would have sunbathed there had it been possible to find a spot not completely covered in seaweed!
Back at the bed and breakfast before dinner (scallops risotto - yum!) we resumed the Scrabble tournament. Mr hazelh won, so we are now 4-4.
As for the toothache, its presence is still felt :-(
Exercise today: cycling (8 miles); walking (13,681 steps).
