Eider Duck family
The female hatches her eggs over on May Isle and then as soon as possible she her to move her chicks away from the large predatory sea birds . Safety is reached by paddling across the Firth of Forth to some of the many off shore rocks. Many gather on the rocks at the west end of Elie beach but as they are the same colour as the rocks they are well camouflaged.
It has been a lovely day but so, so windy. Walking was an effort so I just found myself a comfortable rock as near to the edge as I dared and enjoyed watching the birds.
