Dam Building

This morning we went the long way round to the car to collect more stuff, via "The Island" (which isn't an island, but that's what it is known as).  It was windy so there were plenty of big waves splashing up on the cliffs, and we enjoyed exploring the WW2 lookout hut and the cave.

CyclopsJnr was very keen to get some cement from the car so we could do some pointing, which we did after lunch.  He was really excited to make up a batch of mortar and stick some of it in holes in the wall behind the chimney where there has been a fair bit of deterioration.

It was dry and mild so we went to the beach for a bit later in the afternoon, and had great fun building a dam across a rocky gully and seeing how long we could keep the sea out as the tide rose.

After dinner we played Staccups and Harry Potter House Lines while toasting marshmallows on the fire.
