Tire tomorrow
I was up too late last night. I thought I successfully arranged a tire appointment, online, for today, but it was already tomorrow, so the appointment is for the fifth (the real tomorrow).
One of the terribly peculiar and seemingly insane aspects of buying a new car is that one third don't come with a spare. They don't come with a spare??? You can buy a spare, but there isn't any tidy spot in the car to put them. Instead I have a kit and the kit can put air in the tire and, if need be, sealant in the tire.
Does it matter? At some point they began putting tires on and turning the nuts with machines which meant that I had zero ability to move them when I needed to change the tire. I remember attaching the tire iron, and then standing on it, and then jumping on it, and it not budging. The last time I needed to change a tire I was on the interstate, at night. I wanted to get going as soon as possible so I actually jacked the car up. I had the spare out, the car up, I just couldn't physically take off the old tire. The guy who came and changed it found this fascinating, entertaining, a little ironic.
I guess as long as your tire hole can be sealed it doesn't actually matter.
I watched a youtube video about plugging a leak in the tire. He said it was easy. Intellectually it was easy. Then he showed himself struggle to put the plug in and .... seriously .... if HE is having that much trouble I have what chance?
In this picture you can see my hanging strawberries, my windowbox planter with a balloon flower plant and creeping jenny coming down the side and growing columbines, a box of chocolate mint beneath it, a planter behind my bench, a storage box/foot rest in front of the bench, and a planter next to the window with muppet Mikawa. I did take a picture of a deer and another of a bee enjoying my heucheras, but I've posted so many pictures with those subjects that I thought I'd do something different.
I now have too much sun. How is this possible? The trimming of the tree we were afraid would fall on us and that was trying to climb into my neighbor's window. How does this impact anything? The sun is actually burning my muppet Mikawa and the ostrich fern with it. Wow! And so .... I planted dahlias and gladiolas. We will see!
The attack on the shopping mall caused Macron to stiffen his stance on Russia, from trying to save face for Russia to “Russia cannot and should not win.” I’m sure it was this and not the massive outpouring of criticism when he suggested Ukraine give up territory.
Russia's fashion designers are wondering how they can stay in business without access to imported materials.
40 cats were rescued from a Ukrainian shelter and after a long journey, delivered to Berlin, Germany. The last cats had to be carried on foot. They've all been adopted.
In June the Odesa Opera reopened for the first time since the Russian invasion began. The performance began with a rendering of the Ukrainian national anthem. Images of wheat swaying in the wind formed the backdrop. Viacheslav Chernukho-Volich, the Opera’s chief conductor, worked in Moscow for several years, but in 2014, when Mr. Putin annexed Crimea and instigated a separatist war in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region, he left.
