Entering Sappho
There is a town here named, “Sappho.” They have a sign saying, “Entering Sappho.” I was running an hour late so I didn’t stop and take a picture.
I drove through Forks and could see there would be a parade. They had barriers in some of the road lanes. There were many foldable chairs placed on the sidewalk. Oh nuts.
I got to Hoh at 8 am. No line, no problems getting in, I got parking close by the parking lot, there were not swarms of people on the trail. I left at 9:20 and went past a long line. I lucked out, 8 am was not too late. 9 am - flat out, not worth it.
I drove through Forks - and the parade vehicles were lining up. People were sitting in their seats. I JUST BARELY missed being blocked by the parade!
Then I got to Rialto beach while the tide was still out. It is a long walk along the beach but inside “The Hole” there are ???? Divots???? Anyway, saw this there and it was so fascinating. Then I got out before the water had risen too much for it to be safe. So, again, amazing luck.
Now I am on a ferry to Seattle. It is 11:30 pm for me, I probably won’t be at my friend’s until after 12:30 am for me. At least the sun is still shining, that should help.
Good night!
