In Pursuit of Speed
Pendine Sands on the south coast of Wales stretches for 7 miles. In the 1920s it was used for the Welsh motorcycle TT events. In 1927 Malcolm Campbell set a world land speed record here of 174mph in his second Blue Bird car. In 1933 Amy Johnston and her husband flew from here across the Atlantic. Today it was much quieter. This shot was taken from the high ground to the west. The building under construction on the left will house the new museum of Speed. image taken at high tide.
