Sandstone Falls

On the New River in West Virginia. This area was on my wish list to see so we drove the three hours from Tates house to see the falls and the surrounding area. This area is many miles from the more famous bridge area on the more northern section of the river. The 320 mile river flows through North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia where it flows into the Kanawha.

The New River headwaters where the river springs out of the mountain is about five miles from Tates house. We see it along our route here and to the closest town. This river travels north which is unusual as most rivers here travel east and south.

A long day but cool along the river for a short hike on a boardwalk to this point.

I did take photos with the Canon camera but don’t have a way to upload. Maybe tomorrow when we go home. Hopefully to a cool house.
