a spot of red in the Russian Sage

Ever since my old Peach tree was cut down in early spring, the House Finches have had to find a new place to perch. The little maple I put in is not really big enough yet to give much cover or support. So the birds have taken to hanging out in the depths of a big pine tree and are rarely in sight. So it was a treat to see this brilliant red male house finch munching on some sage blooms.
