The farmer was cultivating a failed crop of beans this morning.   I think the damage done by the wildlife has made it unviable to leave them to harvest.    I was told they were being grown for cattle feed but it would probably cost more to harvest than the crop was worth.   
I hope his cereal crops fare much better.
