Living my dream

By Mima

Wet

Rain today. We need it.

I went into the study first thing to light the fire and found the windows misted up on the outside, and covered in slug- or snail-trails. It was a complete revelation to realise they had such extensive adventures all over the glass.

I've played with the image a bit to make the trailiness a little bolder than the original did...

The extra is characteristic of the day: the potbelly stove pumping out heat; Bean comatose in front of it; damp outside; my view from the armchair where I was reading "The Persians: the age of the great kings" by Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones.

It's a fascinating book, re-writing the largely Greek interpretation of the history of the Persians. What a remarkably influential lot they were. We have a lot to thank them for - and possibly rather less to thank the ancient Greeks for than we have been led to believe. Worth a read if you like your classics...

We'll have a walk before dark: both of us rugged up against the wet of course.
