Busta House
We had to leave our holiday home by 10:00 today so of course I was awake at 04:00 just to be sure. Packed up and said goodbye to Navy Lane, the street we've stayed on for the past ten days. What a lovely house and a brilliant location.
We set off for Brae, stopping at Lower Voe for a wander. I thought Voe looked a bit sad in comparison to my memory of a busy place. It's still very picturesque but had a slightly unloved look. Our destination in Brae however is as I remember. I'm lucky enough to have stayed at Busta House Hotel a few times. It's a country house hotel affair with the oldest parts dating from 1588. You can see some of the building in the extra.
The main is the garden which leads down to the water. Cameraman is walking towards me past the trees. They do indeed grow in Shetland. In these kinds of sheltered spots anyway.
We have just eaten a huge and delightful lunch. Having our coffee in the impossible to photograph Long Room (extra 2). We will soon have to make our way back to Lerwick and get into the queue to board tonight's boat. We leave at 7pm and twelve hours later we will disembark in Aberdeen.
What a lovely time we have had. Can't say it's been the best summer weather but that aside we have enjoyed every day and everything we've done and seen. We're already thinking about when the next Shetland trip might be possible.
