Another day spent mostly at my allotment

I finished off a newly cleared bed and planted out various squash plants - most butternut. I surrounded them with stuff called Strulch - a kind of straw mulch which claims to deter slugs. Will be good if it does. 
I picked some redcurrants and made a crumble with them - plus some apples, to take round to a friends for tea. Stopped off at the Co-op to get some salted caramel ice cream to go with it - not the weather for custard:)
A neighbouring plot holder has made a hedge of these all around her plot, I think it’s magnificent
