Cragside

Near Rothbury, Northumberland 

View to the house from the iron bridge. A place I visited as a child and thought was a true fairytale setting. The house was ahead of its time - the first in the world to have lighting powered by hydro electricity. 

Between the heat of the day and all of the steps, we opted for a short wander, a cup of tea and a gentle tour around the carriage drive. Spotted a partridge with chicks but they quickly dove into the undergrowth.

Quick stop in Rothbury then an early night to pack up to travel home.
