It was too hot to do our planned walk so we took a short cut and noticed a blue field standing out among the green and golden landscape.  While Lacy Phacelia flowers are an attractive addition to a garden, especially since their pollen and nectar are very popular with bees and hoverflies, they are particularly important for farmers.  Not only do they attract pollinators for crops, but like here, they are used as a green manure for providing important nutrients to the soil so will later be ploughed in. There was a quiet buzzing sound as many bees and insects flew around the phacelia.
