Road trip #1 : Akbuk to Aksehir

Finally got on the road just before midday - so much to do before leaving, most especially sorting out the cat care for the next 12 days, even more so now there are four brand new kittens and a doting mum.

On the road for six hours and about 480km before we finally arrived at Aksehir - our pit stop for the night. Aksehir is where the famous Turkish folklore character Nasraddin Hodja died in 1285.   In much need of refreshment we wandered around the town centre and were rather disappointed with the eating establishments we found, in that we didn't really find any.  It seems this very traditional Turkish town, offers just a few basic (unlicensed!) cafes. The hotel is nice and inexpensive, but unfortunately my room reeks of old cigarette smoke, which I am finding very invasive and gross.

Nasreddin or Nasreddin Hodja (1208–1285) was a Seljuk satirist, born in Eskişehir Province, present-day Turkey and died in 13th century in Akşehir, near Konya, a capital of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum, in today's Turkey. He is considered a philosopher, Sufi, and wise man, remembered for his funny stories and anecdotes.[3] He appears in thousands of stories, sometimes witty, sometimes wise, but often, too, a fool or the butt of a joke. A Nasreddin story usually has a subtle humour and a pedagogic nature.[4] Wikipedia
