A Meandering Life...

Dragon & Bee

aka Anthirrhinum majus 'Sonnet' and Bombus pascuorum

aka Snapdragon and Common carder bee.

Another capture on my iPhone.

This snapdragon is in a pot next to my pond. I noticed a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly land on it whilst I was doing my Big Butterfly Count this morning. By the time I got there the butterfly had gone and this chap arrived.

The Common carder bee is only one of 3 all-ginger bumblebee that makes the the 'Big 7' as being a widespread and abundant species here in the UK.

Todays butterfly count registered 3 Large White and at least 6 Small Tortoiseshell during the 15 mins window.
