Always a catch..
2nd attempt. must have missed the publish button..
I used to work on a farm that had a wonderful array of old buildings, built around 1920, they had had their day as farm buildings, but still had loads of character. In it's time, they must have been the most up to date buildings, one of the first farms to have electricity according to the GEC booklet about it..
Corners of walls had rounded bricks, through design, not wear. Windowsills were angled engineering bricks, and the doors were solid wood with hinges the size of fork-lift tines. And the latches were made in the day when craftsmen hand crafted them rather than being stamped out by machine.
The night before demolition (with permission), armed with WD40 and a set of tools, I rescued what I could, only wish it could have been more. I have sets of hinges I can only just lift, locks with numbered keys, and latches. Latches I have used in our new kitchen.
It was all skipped, thrown away.. Except for my bits and memories.
The site now has a large "B&Q" rolled steel shed.. And they call it progress..
