Avoch regatta
A nice sunny morning so I spent the first few hours outside sorting out the pots of hostas and clearing an area of leaves and debris.
We went along to Avoch mid morning to watch the regatta. Lots of Skiffs taking part including boats from Nairn, Lossiemouth,Burghead,Golspie,Fortrose, Ullapool,Strathpeffer,Cromarty and the two Avoch Boats.
We sat in the Community Garden and people watched in the sunshine. We listened to the rules which all sounded really complicated and tough - no Monkey business or you would be disqualified ,lol !
We walked round to the harbour and watched the boats being launched which again did not look very easy .The boats had to be taken down the slipway on a trailer , popped in the water and then the team of mixed aged rowers got on board , the rudder attached to the back and the oars put in place. It was then a tight squeeze to get through the harbour walls.
When they were all lined up the hooter sounded and they were on their way , crashing through the incoming waves. Impressive to watch as they sped off at quite a speed.
I liked the blues in the photo I’ve choosen to blip as the boats waited for their turn to launch.
A few rain showers in the afternoon. Finished watching Stranger Things :)
