Flower Friday ...

... Zinnia ... and male monarch.

When I saw this lovely monarch butterfly on our zinnia this morning I immediately went out to get some pictures.  I thought maybe it might be a female as we haven't seen that many around yet.  But I quickly determined that he is indeed a male.  You will just have to trust me on this ... it's too hard to explain how I know this. 

We have seen a couple of female monarchs around and have started our monarch nursery for 2022.  As of this writing (7/18/22) we currently have 11 cats and three eggs in our butterfly enclosures.  Hopefully some caterpillar pictures will be featured soon.
