Oh, you're English?

I thought being English was meant to be an advantage when job searching. Apparently not. The look that passes in people's eyes when they read that you're English, is not really one of welcoming in Le Puy. Foreign people, wherever they're from are not always welcome here. So after giving my CV in at a bar which would have been literally perfect for everything I was looking for, and receiving the coldness I have become accustomed too, I got a bit down about this job search thing.

Went to the library and got out some books for next year, one of which I started and absolutely loved. Read it on the balcony whilst making my dinner. Questions of the difference between a family novel, and a family history, and whether we can indeed judge the difference between the two got me interested pretty quickly!

Unfortunately most of the day was spent sleeping off a migraine which may have been a form of sunstroke... almost certainly my own fault!

And I passed by the bakery to moan about my life to the ladies there. Had to buy a tart to comfort myself!

Oh wait, you're English? Oh no, we've already found a waitress. We'll be in touch if we need you.
Oh, I'm sure you will.
And I just smile sweetly and leave with a merci, wondering if I'll ever find a job.
