Check out the nails

This female Reed bunting, perched on a reed in the fairly limited hazy early morning sunshine, seems pleased to be able to show off her toe nails.

A few weeks ago, I couldn't get close to these birds, but now I'm bumping into them wherever I go.  Their summer plumage makes them easier to recognise, in the winter their plumage makes them look much more like house sparrows.
