a lifetime burning

Hedge brown

A gatekeeper or hedge brown as they are sometimes known, enjoying a spot of sunshine.

The sunshine was definitely a bit of an unexpected bonus, as the first forecast that I saw suggested that it was going to be cloudy all day: cloudy but breezy.  In the event it has turned out to be quite a pleasant afternoon.

In the South East the traffic queues at Dover that started on Friday have now become so bad that they are affecting Folkestone and the channel tunnel.  Regardless of whether you blame the problems on the French, or on Brexit, or on something else entirely, it must be absolute hell for those who are caught up in the mayhem, be they lorry drivers or families trying to go on holiday.

At this rate Kent County Council or the Highway Authority are going to need to install portaloos at strategic spots on the roadside verges of Kent to deal with the inevitable consequences of these sorts of delays if they want to avoid the Garden of England becoming the country's midden - and a different sort of hedge brown.  What a shambles.
