Mad cows and Englishmen
With apologies to Noel Coward, it was mad cows and this Englishman who went out in the midday sun today. Strictly speaking it was mid-afternoon but still very hot and under a blazing sun. My daughter and I met with a friend of hers at Denbie's Hillside just outside Dorking in the Surrey Hills. The land is owned and managed by the National Trust and there is an abundance of wild flowers and butterflies - particularly the small and delicate Adonis blue. Going down the zig-zag tracks was a lot easer than coming back up them! There was a small herd of what I assumed to be Belted Galloway cattle at the bottom and this one was looking straight at me so I mustered enough energy to take its picture.
