Check

Went to Skipton for a couple of errands.
We had a cheese scone and a flat white in the Three Sheep Cafe.
Called at a very good butchers and finally the Fent Shop before we got the bus back to Ilkley and then Elaine went home.

Fent shops used to be common establishments in the North of England when it was full of cotton and wool mills.
Not many mills left when the industries collapsed in the 1950/60s and most of the weaving equipment and looms were bought by newly industrialising countries around the world.
A Fent is a piece of fabric from the start or end of a role of cloth, usually they are seconds as the dye or the weave isn’t perfect.
Sizes of fents vary from little scraps like this to pieces of fabric around three metres or longer.
They are sold really cheaply often at a fraction of the cost to buy perfect.
With a keen eye you can get some real bargains
Think most of the cushions, napkins and other soft furnishings ( including all my curtains at one time) were made from fents.
Among the bargains at the Fent shop today were fabric’s for Liberty in London
