The wayfarer
We popped down to the wildlife area to water the new crab apple tree, and top up the two small water features. The wild fruits are appearing in great profusion; I think there will be a bumper harvest of blackberries, sloes, and crab apples. Here is one of the many clusters of berries adorning the Wayfaring trees (Viburnum lantana). Although pretty to look at, and attractive to the birds, the berries would make an unpleasant meal for any wayfaring human, being mildly toxic to us.
