Sempervivum and mortality
A rather cooler day, but still no significant rainfall.Dark clouds did gather overhead during the day, but then quickly disappeared again.
Most of the garden is now looking quite dry and stressed but my bowls of houseleeks are still thriving. This plant may be just a Common Houseleek (Sempervivum tectorum ) but I think the flowers are beautiful. As its name suggests, it is tough, living forever, and this one is even happy on a hot roof, where some believe it wards off lightning strikes. (tectorum = of roofs).
My old friend PR, who we visited in hospital last Friday, died this morning. It was expected but, of course, still sad. Fortunately, his wife is very stoic, and is well supported by their friends and P's family, but it will be hard for her, as she has no family in the UK.
