Doncaster Treacle

The journey North was reasonable until we hit very slow traffic at Doncaster.
We had a pit stop at Wetherby. It was very busy with it being the first week of the summer holidays.
The A66 was a total pain. Really slow when the dual parts went into single carriage ways, road works and an accident between Temple Sowerby and Penrith. The accident had closed the road. Fortunately I was able to take a detour on the back roads to Brampton. Thoughts always go to the folks involved in the incident, of course.
The 280 miles took 6 hours, it should have been 4.5. At least we got home safely…..
