A saga.  We have tropical fish - the filter pump was giving up the ghost so bought a new one.   During the fitting process the silicone also gave up the ghost and the whole filter box unit, containing the pump and heater, came away from the glass and cannot be re-attached.

A "Heath Robinson" approach was needed and now there is a thin metal bar across the top of the corner of the tank and the filter box (with new pump) is suspended from it, in the corner, by some wire.
This all happened late afternoon so nowhere to go to get advice.  
A "mission" tomorrow also means that the fish will have to make do until Tuesday - however the water already looks very filtered/clean and the new pump is running well - luckily the hinged lid hides most of my "contraption".

I got my Panasonic Lumix back from the repair company (Camera Repair Direct in Cranleigh, Surrey) - excellent service - they received it Friday, they emailed me Tuesday, I paid over the phone and the camera arrived on Thursday by courier.  Less than a week.
