Release!

This afternoon (while Puddy was sleeping) we released three of our painted lady butterflies.

One hasn’t yet hatched from it’s chrysalis and one butterfly has a damaged wing so we decided to keep it in the net for another day or so.

So, Emma, Rapunzel and Maximus are out in the big wide world. Here is one of the enjoying a drink from our buddleia. It’s been fascinating to watch them feeding with their long tongue unrolling from their mouth!

They fluttered around in the garden a little bit. One even landed on L’s arm which made her giggle!

This is the third year we’ve got caterpillars from Insect Lore and it hasn’t lost its charm yet.
